Boo, Bath and Beyond!
Hello everyone! Well, it’s been quite a while since I’ve sat and blogged my mind away. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer holidays? My mother and cousin came for a visit from Texas, USA last month and we had a blast! We got up to all sorts, including an all night paranormal investigation at Woodchester Mansion with Haunted Happenings, stayed in Bristol in a well-known haunted accommodation called the Arnos Manor Hotel, visited the gorgeous city of Bath,
made a slight detour on our way back up north to see Stonehenge and had a girlie weekend in Dublin, Ireland! I always love when my mom comes to visit because she’s just such a lovely person who’s kind, relaxed, knows how to have a great time, loves to play with the grandkids and isn’t afraid to give her 36 year old daughter a cuddle too! It was extra great on her visit this time because she brought my cousin along with her.

I’ve not seen my cousin in a long, long time and to be honest I’ve never really known much about her. We didn’t really speak growing up all that much for whatever reason. When my dad passed away just over a year ago, she helped my mother, my sister and brothers back in Texas with a lot of the stuff that needed to get done regarding his funeral. With no question whatsoever, she just opened her heart and her time and was there for my family in a big way. And me, being thousands of miles away from home, I felt like she was there for me too. You’re an angel Chani!
So, we started off in Bristol where we booked into the Arnos Manor Hotel where my mom and cousin had a room at one end of the hotel and us the other end.

It was a little funny dropping them off at their room because we thought, not only did their part of the hotel look a little creepy like something from ‘The Shining’, but that it ‘smelt’ haunted too! lol Unfortunately, if there were any ghosts knocking around that hotel that night, they will have been in the party hall right below mine and my husband’s room dancing the night away with the wedding party!
After getting a bit of rest, we made our way down to Woodchester Mansion and met up with the rest of the Haunted Happenings crew (think there were about 20-25 of us) around 9pm. There was a turn-off from the main road onto a small, rocky road through the woods.

It couldn’t have looked more creepy and frightening if it tried! We kept driving and driving…..and driving. And I got more scared and more scared! We came around a bend in the road finally where the Mansion was coming into view and WOW!
it was very impressive and intimidating. When everyone had parked up, we went inside and got situated and listened to the night’s brief from the HH crew. We learned how to use crystals, doweling rods, emf metres, etc. Then we went off into groups exploring this darker than dark Manor for the night. There were a few unexplained things that happened to other folks throughout the night. At one point we heard a man scream his heart out from another area of the Manor…we never found out what happened though. My mom, much to my shock and amazement, even got on a Ouija board with a few folks
at one point in the night. Even I wont touch those things!! My mom is a skeptical, pragmatic yet very open-minded kinda person so when she told me that when everyone took their fingers off the pointer and it kept moving under her finger, I believe her. She said it scared the hell out of her! Crazy woman!! lol

So although nothing particularly happened to/with my cousin during the night’s events, she did get another kind of scare that will make me laugh for the rest of time! I got an awful fright at the beginning of the investigation when a bat decided to flap around amongst our group. I’m TERRIFIED of bats!!! I’d rather contend with ghosts and things I can’t see than flapping, biting bats any day!! And my poor husband, the only thing that scared him was….some of the other people there.
That was pretty much all that happened from the night, but it was a great time nonetheless. How many folks can say that stayed the night in a disused Manor for a night looking for spectres?!! It’s definitely left a lasting impression on us for different reasons!
